Bayonne (Pay Basque)
Bayonne is located at south-west region of France.
This city is quite famous as Pay Basque.
It is very close to Spain, therefore, there are a lot of special cultures : Fromage(Cheese), Piment(Chili), Jambon(Ham) and famous festival.
It takes around 1hour and half from Bordeaux.
I was so boring because I had no internet, no job and no friend for a moment, so I left to Bayonne. (The train ticket was little bit expensive, and after this travel SNCF gave me advantage code....!!!!)
In Bayonne, there is a big river like Garonne, and small stream dividing the town to 2 parts.
In addition, as this old town area was so small, you can walk to visit.
First of all, I went to Tourism office. In France, the tourism office system is really well-organized. Most of tourism offices are located in the center of the city, they provide city map in free and there are lots of quality goods (unfortunately, I have no enough money. This is the biggest problem.)
During the way to tourism office
It was lunch time, so I went toward to have lunch after getting city map.
The restaurant which I had found before coming to Bayonne was located on the opposite site. The weather was so beautiful, I crossed the bridge, everything was perfect.
Restaurant ~ Auberge du petit Bayonne
23 rue des cordeliers
The "today's menu" was not expensive.

After lunch, I went to see the cathedral and Chateau vieux. There were Chateau Neuf (nex castle) but It was not opened to public.
The cathedral was beautiful and little small compared to the one in my city.
However, there was a cloître((abbey) cloister) with pretty green field.
Chateau vieux
Unfortunately, Chateau vieux was not also opened for public.
It seems like military place.
And how many do Asian visitors tried to come in?!
All the languages in front of the chateau were Asian language. LOL
Korean was wrong.... If you write like this, it means "Do no enter(=input)"
And I walked around the botanic garden…
until La Porte D'Espagne(Gate of Spain). (It seems like a gate to go to Spain in the past).
There was a free bus which circulates in the old town.
However, it was too far to walk and the
time was also too late.
I returned toward the train station. I had
a little time, so I stayed at a bar in front of train station.
I thought that I walked only for 2-3 hours
but I was tooooooooo tired.
Bayonne was so nice place! I want to visit
once again! It was so sorry that I was not able to visit Atelier du jambon and L'Atelier du Chocolat!!!!!
